About Me

I’m currently at the University of Toronto studying computer science with interests in the fields of computer systems, embedded systems, automation, cloud computing, and IoT.
Outside of the above, I spend time with chess kibitzers and tennis lovers. I believe that chess has a lot more to grow in Canada and am working on various projects both software related and governance. I served as the Secretary/Chair of the Hart House Chess Club (one of the leading chess clubs in Canada) for two years. During that time, I tournament directed over 50 events spanning all formats and involving over 5,000 participants. I am currently on the organizing committee for the 2026 Canadian University Chess Championship. I recently tournament directed the 2024 Canadian Chess Championships (National Championships) and became a FIDE Arbiter in chess. Outside of chess administration, I have two National Master norms in chess and aim to achieve my NM title by 2026.
I previously served as the President of the University of Toronto Tennis Club where my team brought together a community of over 200 tennis enthusiasts. We organized tournaments, matches, indoor/outdoor tennis opportunities, and leagues.

On this site victorzheng.ca you can find my recaps and news regarding cool projects and activities which I have worked on over the years. I hope that by writing, I can inspire others to take my ideas to make the world an even better place to be. I find that writing is a good way to think deeply about certain problems and challenges. It also encourages a discussion on ideals in the world and perhaps will spark people to further collaborate on the challenges we face.
